COMMUNITY NOTICE From SRA Board:
Land Movement Updates
City Q&A 1-15- 2025
- There will several topics on the City Council agenda for next week related to the final drilling and dewatering plan and efforts to identify funds that could be made available to complete these. All interested residents are encouraged to attend and participate.
- De-Watering wells. 11 wells 820 gallons per minute. 1.5M gallons per day. 3 wells have been redrilled. #5, 8, 9A. PBCA has been seeing some ongoing sinking of homes in upper portion of the community. City doesn’t believe that this is due to the wells but is due to ongoing land movement. The geologist for ACLAD says the sinking is in the expansion zones and it consistent with the ongoing land movement and shape of the land movement in the area.
- New GPS survey has been completed and will be released by the end of the week. Early review shows consistency with prior readings. No movement in SeaView and Beach Club. At Abalone Cove, still moving at 4 inches per week.
- Winterization report.
- Fissure lining in Altamira and Kelvin Canyons are completed. Klondike canyon to be completed by next week.
- SeaView. Street repairs and regrading at all streets completed. Drainage swell along PVDS completed. Will be rehabilitating drainage pipes that go under PVDS from SeaView next week.
- Utilities
- SCE Due to slowing land movement. Will be re-energizing some homes by end of March. Rolling Hills, SeaView, and Beach Club. These will be bridge solutions towards a permanent solution. Up to 116 customers in the 3 neighborhoods. Customers will get a phone call from SCE to explain the process. Those will start end of this week or early next week. It is important that residents note that any work done on their homes to date related to electricity will need inspection by the City. Crews will be in the neighborhoods daily to inspect equipment and plan with residents on re-energization.
- So Cal Gas. Half dozen properties in SeaView and Rolling Hills have been investigated for CMG pods. No other updates for gas restoration.
- Sanitation District. No updates. Ongoing scheduled work of the 8000 feet of trunk line is still being planned. Lines are functioning.
- LA County Public Works. Monitoring SeaView. No movement.
- Cal Water. They are working on lines near Burma Trail. No new ruptures.
- Frontier. No new updates
- PBCA. Road repairs are ongoing.
- KCLAD – Well reports are updated weekly. 370 gallons per minute for the 2 wells. Depth is at 76 feet.
- ACLAD – 9 wells operating. 60-100,000 gallons per day. New culvert under Vanderlip Road.
Disaster Preparedness Meeting 1-16-2025
- There was a presentation about problems with the alert system related to Pacific Palisades and the Eaton fire including the message that went out in error.
- A question of trimming of palm trees was raised in our neighborhood. Some will be on City Property, and some will be on private property. If neighbors have concerns, Ara recommended that they report them to the Public Works Department. If they are on City Property, the City would need to trim them. If they determine that they are not on public property, then they will refer this to Code Enforcement.
- Evacuation planning is not finalized as it will be done in coordination with the other peninsular cities. The Sheriff’s Department and Fire Department have internal planning. It was requested that neighborhood representatives be involved in the evacuation planning and participate in early mobilization as Sheriff’s Deputies may not be available in the early stages.
- It was pointed out the cell service and electrical service are lacking in this part of RPV.
