COMMUNITY NOTICE From SRA Board:
Land Movement Updates
SoCal Gas has placed onto their website the following update of assessment of gas lines in SeaView and other impacted communities.
- SoCalGas Announces Service Restoration Plan
- On February 25, SoCalGas announced it is developing long-term planning for safe restoration of natural gas service to homes in the Portuguese Bend Beach Club and SeaView neighborhoods. This does not include the Portuguese Bend Community Association neighborhood, due to ongoing land movement that exceeds limits established by SoCalGas.
- SoCal Gas expects to have its final design and implementation plan completed in the second quarter of 2025, at which point it anticipates commencing the work required to restore service if the land movement rates remain minimal and conditions allow for safe resumption of service.
No new updates from Cal Water since last week’s information.
No new updates from SCE since last week’s information.
There will be a city council meeting on Tuesday March 4th. Topics that will impact SeaView:
- Consideration and possible action to reconfirm continuing the emergency justification for work and emergency contract for the Greater Portuguese Bend-Ancient Altamira Landslide Emergency Project. (Copp)
- Recommendation: 1) Reconfirm, by a four-fifths vote, there is a need to continue the work on the Deep Vertical Dewatering Emergency Project declared by Council-adopted Resolution No. 2024-20 on May 7, 2024, finding an emergency exists requiring immediate action in the Greater Portuguese Bend-Ancient Altamira Landslide Complex to seek to mitigate the movement of the landslide; and, 2) Direct the City Clerk to confirm the same in the minutes of this City Council meeting, via Minute Order, reflecting this action.
- Consideration and possible action to grant a time extension to Southern California Edison (SCE) for its temporary power pole located at the Ladera Linda Community Center. (Quintero) (30 mins)
Recommendation: Authorize a three-month extension to the terms and conditions of the City-approved encroachment permit, reviewed by the City Council at its September 3, 2024, thereby allowing SCE’s temporary power pole to continue to be located at the Ladera Linda Community Center while a permanent box circuit is designed and constructed.
Below is the recording of last week’s city Town Hall for Wildfire Preparedness.
ICYMI: RPV Wildfire Preparedness Town Hall
In case you missed it, a recording of the RPV Wildfire Preparedness Town Hall held on February 20 is now available on RPVtv’s YouTube channel.
This informative event brought together residents, City staff, representatives from our public safety agencies, and utilities to discuss how our community prepares for wildfire and what homeowners should be doing to protect their properties.
Thank you to the RPV staff, Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff’s Departments, California Department of Insurance, SCE, Cal Water, West Basin, and the Metropolitan Water District for your attendance, presentations, and all you do to keep our City safe!
You can view the town hall video, presentation slides, handouts, and a list of answered questions on the City’s website.
